Desiree Newman is coming off of one of her best seasons ever. She played her nineth grade year at Charlotte United Christian Academy and started as a true freshman on the varsity. She had outstanding numbers. She led the team in scoring in conference play with 14.8 points per game and lead them to a second place finish in the Charlotte Christian Conference. She was ranked third best freshman in the state of North Carolina by MaxPrep and ranked 15th best freshman in the nation by MaxPrep. She was also named to the Charlotte Observer All Mecklenburg Team as one of the top 15 players in Mecklenburg County. Desiree has been contacted by several colleges that have interest in her. She has also done well in the classroom. She had the highest Science academic average in her freshman class at CUCA. Over the summer of 2013, Desiree was invited to several Division I and Division II college invitation only camps. She was identified by AAU USA as one of the "Best Basketball Players of AAU". She received a letter from Henry Forrest, President/CEO of Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). She was invited to the SCOUTS Focus Fall Elite 80 Showcase, where players are rated state wide and nationally. |
