![]() | About UsTim and Jacob Newman are the sons of Tim and Gail Newman. Their father, Tim Sr. has been a head coach for 21 years. He compiled a record of 28-3 in Charlotte Mecklenburg schoold. As a professional minor league coach, he compiled a record of 48-2. As a head college and prep school coach he compiled a record of 161-11. In high school, he was an all county runningback and four sport player at Olympic High School in Charlotte NC. He played footbal, basketball, baseball and track. Tim's best 100 meter time was a 10.8. That's a 9.7 100 yard dash. He went on to Johnson C Smith University and was an All American runningback and Second Team All CIAA. He was the teams MVP in 1985 and 1986, and was named WGIV's Player of the Game 22 times. He went on to sign as a Free Agent with the New York Jets. The Newman family have a strong christian life. They give God all the credit for all the talent their son's possess. They take no credit for themselves. Their sons will continue to grow in the athletic world. Experience Tim and Jacob started at a very early age competing in athletics. They both started at the age of four, playing against six and seven year olds and had a lot of success. In Tim's first year of flag football at the Simmons YMCA, he had 6 touchdown's. The next year,Tim went to the University YMCA. He was five and scored 24 touchdowns. That same year Jacob first started at the University YMCA, at age four he had 4 touchdown's but no one knew they were underaged. The next season still at University YMCA, Tim had 30 touchdowns and Jacob had 17. The fourth season at age seven Tim had 32 touchdowns and Jacob at age six had 22. The next year they moved on to Morrison YMCA where Tim at age eight had 34 touchdowns and Jacob had 28. The following year they both played for the Weddington Athletic Association. They were the fastest two on the team. This was their first year of tackle football. Tim had an outstanding season at age nine. Tim lead the team in rushing and touchdowns. He rushed for over 1473 yards from scrimmage and he had two kickoff returns for touchdowns and one for 74 yards and one for 69 yards for a total of over 1600 yards. He also led the team in tackles and was named the MVP on offense. Jacob was not allowed to run the ball because of a team rule that seven year olds could not run the ball. This was an individual coach rule which we felt cheated him out of his first year of tackle football and being able to run the ball. After having very successful years in flag football and 71 touchdowns it was a huge blow to him. But he did have a very successful first year at playing tackle football. He was the Player of the Game against the Mint Hill Panthers. And as a seven year old he was one of the top five players on the team. At the age of 10 Tim went on to play for the Sun Valley 5th grade team. They already had plans of who they wanted to play runningback, but Tim wanted to play. In the first couple of practices the coach already had a runningback that he wanted to play. If God is for you who can be against you. Tim emerged from that to be the best player on the team. He ran 1200 yards and 5 touchdowns for an offensive line that didn't create very many holes. Last year at age 8 Jacob had an offensive explosion. He left Weddington and went to Porter Ridge. He still had to prove to the coach that he was worthy of running the football because they too had someone else in mind for running the football. After given a chance he earned the position. In the first game of the season he faced Weddington. It hurt him not running the ball at 7 but after he settled in offensive explosion happened. By game 4 he ran for 415 yards and 5 touchdowns against Steel Creek. He had a total of 789 yards and 7 touchdowns. He had over 3 games with 250 plus yards. He finished the season with 2069 yards and 25 touchdowns. It clearly showed that the coach held him back at 7. Jacob was chosen this past year at Porter Ridge by the coaching staff and players as MVP, Offense and Defense of the team. He led the team in tackles. Over their careers Tim has had 165 touchdowns and Jacob has had 130. Together they have rushed for close to 8056 yards (11/10/12). Tim and Jacob are now participating in the Porter Ridge full contact football camp. The head coach at Porter Ridge high school and the head coach at Independence high school are running the camp. Tim and Jacob are working on their well rounded game. They are great ball carriers but are working on their blocking and tackling. The early part of May they were working on their sprinting and 40 yard dash time. Tim at 10 years old ran a 4.69. Jacob at 9 ran a 4.7 flat. Tim ran a 20 yard shuttle at 4.63, and Jacob ran a 4.67 shuttle. We are super excited about football season approaching. Tim and Jacob have been working hard this summer. Football season will be opening up soon. The official practice will begin in August. August 25, 2012 was a great day. The Lord blessed the Newman family. Mom and dad had to go to Palm Bay, FL for a JC football game, and God showed his self strong as the Tigers had a big win, 34-21. But their mind was on the boys. Tim & Jacob had a Jamboree. God showed himself strong in Matthews too. The boys combined for 6 touchdowns. Looks like they are off to a great start in 2012. We give God all the credit for all of the success and our gifts and talents. We are super excited that Tim has run over 1000 yards for three consecutive years. He has run for 132 yards and 1 touchdown (10/20/12) on the #1 seed PeeWee team, Steele Creek. This year was a great season for Jacob, averging 283 yards per game and 3 touchdowns per game. This may be his best year yet. He has run for 2878 yards, and 34 touchdowns with 97 carries. Jacob has had 59 touchdowns in two years, however, Jacob was not the leading ball carrier. He played just as well on defense this year as he played on offense. He also had a total of 111 tackles (11 per game), We give all the credit to God. Tim had an exceptional year, considering his offensive line created very few holes and bad play calling. But Tim overcame "daddy ball". Tim was not the main ball carrier but ended up leading the team in rushing with 1860 yards and 14 touchdowns. This year, 2012 they combine for 4738 yards and 48 touchdowns. Job1:10 "Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land."
